this may seem odd but i found a tag on pinterest a while ago of my dream wedding dress, and it seems im finally engaged and all i can think about is that dress, it was tagged from the site and am trying to get info of where i can find this dress again! bride in need!

Hmm… I don’t post a lot of wedding things, so maybe you’re talking about this dress? Or this one? If not, you might find it by searching through my “dresses” tag. And if that doesn’t work, try describing it a bit more and I’ll see what I can do.

If you had $2000 to spend on clothing right now, what specific items would you buy, and from where? Would you splurge on a few pricey items or buy more, cheaper (but still quality) items? (This has no personal significance; I don't actually have this much to spend, but I'm just curious)

This question’s been sitting in my inbox for ages because I wanted a time when I had more than two minutes to think about it, but I’m afraid my answer is a bit boring - I’m practical. I would buy high quality basics (solid button downs, LBDs, black/gray skirts, cardigans, shoes). I’d get not-quite-as-HQ-but-still-decent items that I’d wear for awhile but not as often (brighter colors, prints, etc). And I’d snag oodles of dresses - I’ve noticed a serious lack of dresses in my life, but dresses have a long cycle in between wears, so they don’t get nearly as much wear and tear and don’t always need to be super high quality.

As for specific items, I’ve had my eye on a polka dotted button down from J.Crew, a paisley skirt from Madewell and a couple of dresses from Modcloth. I’m also in the market for some new shoes - double monks, chelsea boots, and new loafers, so I’d snag some of those as well.

What are your favorite affordable brands? By affordable I mean anywhere between like $15 and $100 for most things, not necessarily H&M or Forever 21

Those two are fair options, as are Urban Outfitters and Target. I’m always on the lookout for good sales at J.Crew, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor LOFT and local boutiques, too. But for the best deals, I find a lot of really nice quality stuff at thrift stores. Try one near a rich neighborhood if you can.

are herschel bags just for guys?

Not at all! I had one that I loved until an unfortunate Fat Tuesday incident involving gumbo. If you see one you like, get it!

You live in Cary/Raleigh?? I couldn't help but notice the Crossroads 20 ticket.

Yeah, around there. I’m back in the triangle for spring break.

Hello Mallory! I have been following you for a while and I love seeing all of your posts of what you're wearing on a particular day. Recently I've been in sort of a jeans rut..I live on the East Coast and while it isn't snowing, it does get pretty chilly here. I've mostly just been wearing the same sort of thing everyday: jeans, usually black or a lighter wash, a neutral sweater, scarf, and overcoat. It's definitely practical, but is getting old. Advice on how to change it up? Thanks! :)

Get some warm tights (the cheap ones at Target are pretty warm; and if it’s really cold I hear doubling up works) and wear skirts with your sweaters. A lot of your spring/summer skirts will work for winter if you style them right! You could go with simple black/gray tights or you could go for brighter colors or patterns (be warned: lace/holey tights don’t keep you warm though). Put on thick socks and boots, and try wearing your scarf in a different way if you’re still bored.

I’m also a fan of ridiculously thick sweater dresses. I’ve worn one + tights + gloves + doc martens out in the snow and been warm!

do you have any overalls shorts or anything like them? :)

I had a pair of striped overalls, but I left them at my parent’s house. I’m not a huge fan of them for myself.

what are your friends like? do they have the same style as you?

My friends are pretty great. I like ‘em a lot. But no, I would say they have different styles from me. For the most part, though, they all dress well in their own styles.

May I ask where you got your thigh highs? I can't seem to find any that length!

I got them on sale from Urban Outfitters over Thanksgiving. They’ve got a couple pairs on their website now. I like the length a lot, but mine were slipping down really easily when I was walking to class today which was a little annoying.
